Bow Out of Division 5 Cup

Bowenhurst are out of the League Division 5 cup after losing 2-1 to York Road Reserves.

Looking to avenge the 10-0 thrashing that York inflicted on us in the last encounter, Bow fielded a much stronger side and, on the back of two good wins, we thought we could get a result that would see us into the semi-finals.

Unfortunately, it was not to be as Bowenhurst's ineffectiveness up front and two mistakes at the back allowed York to sneak the win.

It was a very close game with both teams canceling each other out. The first half ended 0-0 and it looked as though the second half would as well until the last fifteen minutes when all three goals were scored.

The lone York striker, who had not threatened us all game, managed to latch on to a flicked header and run clean through on goal and finish neatly into the bottom corner. This spurred a bit of life into Bowenhurst and we pushed forward looking for an equaliser.

A few chances went begging before a neat through ball found Paul Robertson and he finished well, shooting across the keeper and into the far corner.

York pushed forward from the restart and, with the Bow defence under pressure, worked the ball to the edge of the penalty where a York midfielder was waiting to strike the ball at goal. How the ball managed to go through the defence, I don't know. But it did, and it beat David in goal.

So York go through to the next round.

17.12.06 Beehive
2-8
James Buchanan, Louis Fidler
Bowenhusrt stung eight times by Beehive

Beehive have done the double over us this season as they managed to put eight past us in, what was, a very poor performance by Bowenhurst.

Beehive were already two goals ahead before James Buchanan got one back for us with a simple header at the far post.

We would have been lucky if we had pulled the game back in the second. Instead, Beehive went and scored five more goals to go 7-1 up.

Louis Fidler scored Bowenhurst's second from a rebound after Adam Deeley's penalty had been saved. Although the penalty was conceded in the last minute of the game Beehive still found time to race towards our goal and score their eighth.

Christmas must have come early for them.
